Three types of ScanWorks® 3D scanner systems

Perceptron ScanWorks® family of 3D scanner systems can be customized to ensure that your requirements are well met. Each system provides high speed and accurate scanning for measurement, inspection, and design or reverse engineering. Perceptron's V3, V4i, V4ix, and V5 ScanWorks® sensors permit you to select the appropriate equipment for your job.

The ScanWorks® portable scanning system hardware includes an articulated measuring arm, of which various sizes are available, a ScanWorks® controller and sensor, and software. The ScanWorks® sensor performs the actual laser scanning of the part or object, generating a line of points at the rate up to 458,000 points per second. The ScanWorks® controller and software synchronizes the generated points with the position of the articulated measuring arm to create the topography of the object in the ScanWorks® software or other point cloud application software. ScanWorks® software fully integrates with 3rd party point cloud handling software to provide capabilities for reverse engineering, inspection, and other computer aided engineering activities.

Perceptron's robotic 3D scanner, AutoScan™ Flexible Ring Gauge, is a new gauging approach used in the automotive industry that sweeps the entire surface of a part to provide a complete and accurate picture in less time that traditional ring gauges. Instead of replacing a ring gauge and checking fixture each time there is a new part, AutoScan™ lets you introduce new parts with simple programming changes. The robotic scanning system is able to measure more parts per shift, and provides results that are more complete, accurate, and consistent.

The ScanWorks® V4ix solution is designed for use on coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Whether retrofitted to an existing machine or purchased with a new machine, the ScanWorks® scanning system adds improved capability to CMMs by increasing the number of points captured: up to 23,040 points / second. ScanWorks® software is embedded in the CMM program which means you can use existing CMM mover programs with the ScanWorks® V4ix to capture more detail and shape information about your parts. And since ScanWorks® is embedded in the software all original OEM features are maintained, things like temperature and volumetric compensation. This results in accurate information coupled with unprecedented speed. CMMs equipped with a ScanWorks® solution can be used for inspection, reverse engineering, and other CAE activities.
