In-Process Quality Inspection

Perceptron pioneered in-process inspection in 1981 and has continued to provide world leading quality inspection solutions.  Many manufacturers around the world rely on Perceptron's Dimensional Gauging solutions to monitor their part and process quality.

In the example below, an automotive manufacturer selected Perceptron's in-process solution to measure their body-in-white.  The manufacturer identified critical features and used the feature information to make product changes and process adjustments.

In-process quality inspection process:

1. The body-in-white moved into Perceptron tunnel structure for measurement
2. Once positioned, all sensors fired to inspect preprogrammed features
3. If any feature was out of tolerance, the Perceptron system would automatically notify the cell operator and stop the production line
4. All information was stored in database and used for continuous improvement
