Body Panel Fit

In today's market, the fit between adjacent parts is critical to the overall quality of your finished product.  In the automotive market, customers quickly see misalignments in doors, hoods, deck lids and lift gates.  They also hear excessive wind noise and see water leaks.

In the example below, an automotive manufacturer used Perceptron's Gap and Flush solution to measure the gaps and flushness of closure panels on the vehicle body in the trim and final area.

Panel fit process:

  1. Vehicle stops in station
  2. Two robot-mounted sensors measure critical areas around the closure panels
  3. Measurement results are displayed for plant personnel to make alignment adjustments if needed
  4. All measurements are stored for process monitoring
